You don’t need an account to make a receipt. Here is what happens to your information when you use itemizeme.com.

Your answers

Draft answers stay temporarily in your browser so you can go back and edit. When you create a receipt, your answers are sent to our server and used by a curated writing system. Raw questionnaire answers are not stored in our database. Free-text stories are never copied verbatim onto your receipt. This feature does not send your answers to a generative AI service.

Your saved receipt

We store the finished receipt, including its chosen name, line items, and creation date. A session cookie connects receipts to this browser. Saved receipts remain until you delete them. Clearing this site’s cookies removes your access to their controls, so save or delete receipts before clearing site data.

What happens when you share

Receipts start private. Choosing “Share my receipt” makes the receipt and its preview image available to anyone with its unique link. Shared receipts are not listed in a public directory, and their pages ask search engines not to index them. That is not a guarantee that a link or image will never appear elsewhere.

Use a nickname and leave out anything you would not want someone else to see. You can turn link sharing off or delete the receipt from My receipts. Copies already downloaded, screenshotted, forwarded, or cached by another service cannot be recalled.

Optional photos

The photo treatment runs in your browser. Your photo is not uploaded to our servers, stored with your receipt, or added to its public link or link-preview image. It is included only in images you choose to download or send through your device’s image-sharing feature. Removing the photo or reloading the page clears it from this view.

When you send a photo receipt through another app, that app receives the image you choose to share. Its own privacy practices then apply.

Activity and hosting

We record product actions such as questionnaire completion, downloads, share attempts, and visits from shared links. These records use a session identifier and do not include questionnaire answers or photos. Share links include a referral identifier so we can understand how people find THE RECEIPT. Short receipt addresses and coded test invitations also help us understand entry sources. An entry source is remembered in the current browser tab for up to 24 hours; invitation codes do not require names or contact details.

The site uses a hosting service, database, and image storage to deliver pages and save receipts. These services necessarily process requests to the site, including connection information. No advertising pixels or third-party marketing analytics are installed in this app.

Managing your information

In My receipts, you can disable a shared link or permanently delete a receipt, its stored preview, and linked activity records. We retain other anonymous product activity to understand how the service is used. We currently offer no paid checkout or marketing-email signup.
